Mistress 32

The Mistress 32 was designed by Olle Enderlein.  110 were built in Ellos, Sweden between 1969 and 1974.  Until 1972 they were Hallbergs, and after that Hallberg-Rassys.

The Mistress is a masthead rigged sloop, and sports a fin keel with the rudder attached to a skeg.  Sail area is 445 square feet (41.3 m² ), and displacement 7,496 pounds (3 400 kg ).   A quotations from Hallberg-Rassy's web site describes the Mistress as "a successful IOR halftonner and boat number one did very well in the 1968 Half Ton Cup as well as the Baltic Race. Her elegant lines make the Mistress attractive still today."

More information about the Mistress can be found at Hallberg-Rassy's site; http://www.hallberg-rassy.se/mistress/hr32-mistress.html .

The Swedish magazine Segling has featured the Mistress in a magazine article.  The article is in swedish, but in short it contains history, facts, pictures, owners tips and intervews with long-time Mistress-owners.  Click here.  For an English translation, courtesy of Jay Carroll, click here.  For a Microsoft Word document in English, please click here.  For another article courtesy of Jay Carroll click here.

The following photos were sent in to us on July 11, 2001 by Lars Jonsson, who writes:

"I send you some pictures from our Mistress meeting on the island Broken
outside Nyköping on the swedish eastcoast. We were 7 Mistress boats
including the Mistress prototype Hambo. You can see Hambo on one of the
pictures. Hambo was built 1967 at Tore Larssons yard on Orust and did very
vell in the Half Ton Cup 1968 as well as the Baltic Race. Hambo was still in
a very good condition. Hambo's hull is exactly like a Mistress a part from
the stern that has the rudder on the outside."

Other Mistresses include "Aktris" owned by Rutger Genberg, one of the organisers of the meeting which was the world´s first of its kind, "Beatrice" owned by Torbjörn Tallberg, "Gazell" owned by Claes Millbourn, "Femme Fatale" owned by Ulf Larsson, and  "Blåöga" owned by Lars Jonsson.

I bought her this summer after have been sailing International Folkboat a couple of years. The Mistress is a dreamboat for me. She has blue hull which is still in a very good condition and her teak deck is very nice to look at. The engine is from 1989 and is a Perkins M25 with 26 hp. The sails is a mainsail, genoa on a Profurl, booster, spinnaker and a stormjib all from Syversen sails. She is equipped with GPS, VHF, autopilot and other things for a good sailing life. And the best is that the original china is still in the boat with plates, coffe cups and glaces with the Mistress logo on.

I also have made a small website where you can see my boat. Unfortunately the language is swedish, so far. The address is http://w1.841.telia.com/~u84103148/
